The Evolution of a Revolution

Earlier this year, we introduced everyone to the Evolution Mantels, revolutionizing the idea of mantels. Due to the overwhelming success of the line, inventory was quickly depleted. We have now replenished our stock and are ready to start shipping them out!

We’ve gotten nothing but rave reviews over the wonders of our Evolution Mantels! They are shipped in separate pieces, one header and two legs, with optional hearth, keeping shipping costs low when compared to one-piece mantels. And because installation is a breeze, it takes only ONE person to install it! The header is mounted onto the wall above the fireplace and has an interlocking dowel system to attach the legs. The optional insert panels can recess themselves behind both legs and the header, creating a seamless look around the opening. These mantels are made from a material exclusive only to Yosemite Home Décor, called Eco-Stone, making it extremely resilient, lightweight, and particularly fire retardant. The Evolution series is customizable with the ability to wrap around virtually any major brand fireplace, giving customers the ability to create their perfect fireplace with accessory options.

Customers can choose their focal-point from eight distinctive designs and two complimenting finishes, with looks varying from traditional to the epitome of sleek and modern. Whether it’s decided on the clean lines of the Pacifica, or the Tuscany’s curves and ornate detailing, our mantels will definitely make a statement in any home. A statement that shows incomparable style, that says it is time for the Evolution.

We can ship within 24-48 hours from the time an order is placed! Call (800) 305-9872 ext 2153 and ask for Lynae or email Lynae@yosemitehomedecor.com, and get your customers ready to get cozy this winter!

Halloween at Yosemite

Leaves changing colors, crisp wind blows in the air
Sleeves are growing longer, and it’s time for county fairs
Sun starts sinking early, while the stars come out to play
Autumn is fast approaching; soon summer will be tucked away
Cooler nights and hayrides are enjoyed during this occasion
Filled with spooky, harmless fun all across the nation
Like Shania’s richness, shades of golden browns, oranges, and greens
Carved & glowing pumpkins emerge as center scenes
Cornucopias, bewitching ghouls, candy corn and more
Can be seen on every street, enhancing everyone’s décor
Children become antsy, as October comes to a close
Donning an array of disguises, gathering goodies they love most
Sifting through their collections, escaping sounds of laughter
As children contently settle on the confections they were after
And just as quickly as it came, October will be over
A tell-tale sign to everyone, that winter is around the corner
But for now, let us dim the lights on our Half-Dome Chandeliers
Gather with costumed friends and enjoy the coolness of the year
Hang Fall Tulips and enjoy Autumn Scenes a plenty
There’s so much to discover, it’s Halloween at Yosemite!

Happy Halloween from Yosemite Home Decor!

Half Dome by Mindy Platt

When you think of Yosemite National Park, what image comes to mind? Half Dome is arguably the most renowned sight in the park standing just shy of 5,000 feet above the valley floor. The spectacle consists entirely of granite stone and was formed by glacial movements. It was originally called “Tis-sa-ack” by the Native Americans, meaning Cleft Rock. Due to the renowned recognition of Half Dome, it is featured in many company logos such as those of The Sierra Club and Sierra Entertainment.

Half Dome is not only a high point of tourism, but a great attraction for hikers across the world. In 1875, the first hiker, George Anderson, made the dangerous journey to the top of Half Dome. Since that time, trails have been made, allowing thousands of people the opportunity to experience the spectacular view from the top. The hike is about 14-16 miles round-trip, but the reward isn’t only making it to the top. Hikers enjoy phenomenal views of Vernal and Nevada Falls, Liberty Cap, and the rest of the Yosemite Valley while slowly making the tedious 10-12 hour hike by way of metal cables.

Like the famous Half Dome of Yosemite Valley, the Half Dome family of lighting offered by Yosemite Home Décor proudly stands out, attracting much deserved attention. The fixtures feature smooth, contemporary curved glass coverings in both White Frost and Parchment Frost to match the Satin Nickel and Venetian Bronze finishes, respectively. The family offers a variety of fixtures ranging from our two-tiered, nine light chandelier to pendants, flush mounts and vanity lighting, allowing our customers to offer a sleek collection to their clientele.

The lighting family and the granite monument are spectacular sights that you really must see to fully appreciate, but unfortunately so far we’ve only been able to get UPS to ship one of them to our customers. We encourage you to come out here to see the other for yourself – you won’t be disappointed!

Vernal Falls

Hidden, yet accessible by the Mist Trail, awaits the powerful beauty of Vernal Falls in Yosemite National Park. Before being renamed in 1851 as “Vernal” by Lafayette Bunnell, a member of the Mariposa Brigade, it was known as Yan-o-pah, or little cloud, by the locals. Beginning near the Happy Isles Nature Center, the path to this beautiful waterfall is sandy and rocky at first. It winds through wooded land just north of the Merced River, and as the path gradually ascends, the view looking back towards Yosemite Valley becomes more dramatic. Through the trail, and depending on the time of the year, hikers can find themselves drenched hiking through the mist of the falls.

Many steep steps take the trail up the rock face beside the waterfall, after which the path emerges onto a large, flat open area at the top near the Emerald Pool. Dropping about 50 feet off a 30 degree slope of polished granite is an unusual cascade known as the Silver Apron. Vernal Falls towers a staggering 317 feet high. Because of these alluring features, Vernal Falls is considered one of the most precarious waterfalls in Yosemite.

And similar to the landmark, the Vernal Falls lighting family is a favorite by many with its transitional and powerful design. This style is offered as a chandelier for larger rooms, with an option to add lower bowl lighting. For entrances or smaller rooms, the singular look of our flush mounts and pendants would do nicely. Accentuate cozier areas with this design’s version of mini-pendants or dual sconces. Whether chosen in the Satin Nickel finish with White Frosted glass, or the Parchment Frost glass complimenting the Venetian Bronze finish, the look remains timeless. The simple curves form a wave of distinction where the peaks display the lighted glass. Flowing freely, the soft light they create cascades into the room, creating a lovely ambiance for an evening in, and allure enough for any guest.
